Operating principle
ServoRing HL rotary tables use segmented three phase synchronous brushless motor modules with high strength magnets on the rotors. The stator is made up of laminated stack and coil assembly with a large number of poles. Sinusoidal commutation of current control associated with the encoder feedback enables smooth torque generation with minimal torque ripple
Cooling
The motors can be cooled either by free air convection or water. Optional water cooling jacket can be installed in demanding applications when coolant is available.
Acceleration
Acceleration of ServoRings HL can be extremely high. As the inertia of the ring motor is usually much lower than the load inertia, acceleration can be much higher than with mechanical speed reducers.
Accuracy and repeatability
ServoRings HL are designed for high accuracy applications. They allow to position load much more precisely than geared or belt systems. Arc-sec accuracy and repeatability are achievable using high accuracy ring encoders and high stiffness ring bearings.
Motion smoothness
ServoRings HL have an inherent capability for extremely smooth motion achieved by closed loop controls with ring encoders. Direct drive systems are not subject to wear and backlash of mechanical systems. The smoothness of the operation and dynamic stability is maintained during lifetime of the machine
Reliability and Long life
Basic simplicity and minimum of moving parts make ServoRings HL nherently reliable. High precision ring bearings for combined axial and radial loads provide high mechanical rigidity and long life reliability even in the most demanding rotary table applications.
