XY Tables

XY tables are tables which are belt driven for perfect positioning and are more ideal than traditional tables that use screws. These XY tables are useful for several purposes and enable some applications to be performed more easily. Some of the applications that require use of these tables include positioning of sensors, performing machining that is not heavy duty, and automating operations that involve pick-and-place. These programmable XY tables come in different models and the companies that produce them provide a huge configuration range to enable the customer to end up with the perfect table for their specific need and application. The best XY tables are those whose parts are movable below the laser head. These movable parts are controlled by custom-laser software. The XY tables are positioned to the users marking fields of choice.

Some of the applications include wood engraving, metal engraving, glass etching, plastic welding, wafer cutting, and barcode engraving. Marking and cutting the fabric is also part of the applications. A person should consider several factors prior to buying XY tables. First and foremost, the particular applications of the XY tables will determine the size of the XY tables. XY tables with larger tops are more preferable since they allow the user enough space to carry out varied applications. Space is required to operate shaft extensions and knobs. One also needs to consider how dependable XY tables are before buying them. Some XY tables are more stable than others and the more stable a table is the better - especially for heavy duty tasks. A steady XY table is more desirable since it is able to support cantilevered loads. The person also needs to clarify on the level of accuracy and make a request if higher accuracy is needed.

One can request information from engineers of a company selling these XY tables to clarify several specifications such as maximum payload, accuracy, resolution, repeatability, and speed. Another factor to consider when buying XY tables are whether they are affordable. The factors that affect the cost of certain XY tables are the model, travel, shipping weight, and whether the shipping is ground or overnight. To increase the table's performance a person can use a pulley reducer, which positively affects the table's accuracy, speed and resolution. On the other hand, noise and vibration are both reduced. Those who prefer work plates and large base or have a relatively short travel can choose from a series of packages. Each of these XY table series is of multiple lengths.

The three standard sizes include the low profile/small-sized XY tables, which are exceptionally rigid and have a large surface area for working. These XY tables are dual and have a parallel design that is quite an advantage since it increases the table's support for cantilevered loads. The other two standard sizes are medium and large sizes. They are motor or manual driven and have components or complete systems. A summary of all the applications that XY tables are used for include laboratory automation, factory automation, dispensing, pick and place, automatic testing, sensor positioning cutting, drawing and machining.
